What do you need a hand with?

If yours isn't here, ask me in your app's chat.

Publishing needs two accounts of your own. I walk you through both when you're ready.

Getting started

  1. 01

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. If you can explain your business to a new employee, you can explain it to me. I make the technical choices and tell you about the ones that matter.

  2. 02

What kinds of apps can you build?

iPhone apps for businesses: ordering ahead, bookings, stamp cards, new arrivals, class schedules, and sign-in for your customers. For now, apps are iPhone only, in English, and can't take payments inside the app.

  3. 03

What if I don't like what you build?

Say so, in plain words. I change the app in place. Every change is saved as a version, so you can also ask me to undo one.

  4. 04

Can I change my mind while you're working?

Yes. Send a message while I'm working and I'll take it into account, or stop me and start again.

Your phone

  1. 05

How do I see my app on my iPhone?

Install Quiny Preview from TestFlight, Apple's app for trying apps before they're in the App Store. Then open your app's link on the phone. It updates by itself as I build.

  2. 06

    Can other people try it?

Yes. Anyone with your app's link can open it in Quiny Preview, so share it with your staff or friends. The link keeps working for as long as the app exists.

Publishing

  1. 07

What do I need to put my app on the App Store?

An Apple developer account in your name, which costs $99 a year, paid to Apple, and an Expo account, which is free to start. If you don't have them, I walk you through making them.

  2. 08

Why can't Quiny publish it for me?

Apple's guideline 4.2.6 says apps made with a service like Quiny must be submitted by the business behind them. Publishing under your own account also means the listing and its reviews are yours.

  3. 09

    How long does Apple take?

Apple reviews every app and every update before it goes live. That usually takes a day or two, sometimes longer. I'll email you when there's news.

Cost

  1. 10

    What does it cost?

Nothing yet. Apple's $99 a year and any paid services your app uses are billed by them, not by Quiny.

  2. 11

What if I use up my budget?

Each account has a budget for the building I do. If you reach it, I stop and tell you so. You're never charged for going over.

Your data

  1. 12

    Who owns the app?

The App Store listing is yours, under your Apple account. While you build, the app's code and database live in Quiny's accounts. Moving them into accounts of your own is done by hand for now, as a paid option.

  2. 13

What do you remember about my business?

What your business does, who your customers are and similar facts, so I don't ask twice while we make your app. I keep them with that app only, and you can see and delete them in its Settings.

  3. 14

Where do I put passwords and keys for other services?

Never in the chat. When your app needs a key for another service, I ask for it in a separate form that keeps it private.
